In 2013, he was bestowed with the prestigious Susan C. Eaton Outstanding Scholar-Practitioner Award. Dr. Eberts holds a bachelor’s degree in philosophy from the University of California San Diego, as well as a master’s degree and a PhD in economics from Northwestern University. A member of the American Public Policy and Management Association and the American Economic Association, he also served on the board of the Bronson Hospital System and the Transportation Research Board. Although he has experienced several career highlights, Dr. Eberts is especially proud of the impact his work has had on his profession and his community at large. Looking ahead, he aims to continue allocating time and resources to his community while enjoying his retirement. Dr. Randall W. Eberts is a respected researcher and economist with specialized knowledge in data analysis, labor economics and public workforce development. Retired since 2024, he most recently served as a senior researcher at the W.E. Upjohn Institute for Employment Research for five years, drawing from his prior role as president from 1993 to 2019. Having authored and co-authored approximately 200 articles in prestigious publications – including Economic Development Quarterly – Dr. Eberts also contributed to books such as “The Workforce Investment Act: Implementation Experiences and Evaluation Findings.” With past experience in leadership roles at the Federal Reserve Bank of Cleveland, as a professor at the University of Oregon, and as a staff member at the Council of Economic Advisors, Dr. Eberts leveraged his comprehensive expertise to enact meaningful changes in his community.
