89 Millennium - Twenty-third Edition BUSINESS, FINANCE AND ENTREPRENEURSHIP Charles Pascalar has made incredible strides in his field over the past 40 years. Throughout his history, he has demonstrated creativity and tenacity until reaching the prominent role he is recognized for today. Mr. Pascalar is proud to have been the first to launch coupons and to use a credit card for loyalty rather than punch cards in the gasoline credit card industry. Commencing his career as the youngest terminal manager ever at FINA OIL Company in 1981, he remained there for 16 years and was promoted to several roles, becoming the first ever non-vice president to handle wholesale pricing. He approved the mega-hit show “Dallas” to film at his facility, and then had recurring roles for over two years. He is also gratified to have led FINA to NASCAR championships in 1996 and 1997. However, he is most proud of turning the company’s worst sales district into the best sales district in only 18 months. As his career progressed, Mr. Pascalar held executive-level roles at Kmart, managing the second-largest database in the United States and launching the fastest-growing credit card in retail history. At Circuit City, he introduced its first-ever loyalty program, providing the largest corporate sales increases ever, and then at Catherines, as vice president of marketing, he introduced Friends and Family, leading to the biggest sales day in history. Promoted to senior vice president of marketing after less than two years, he led marketing for Catherines, Lane Bryant, Fashion Bug and Petite Sophisticate and was called the “Boy Wonder.” Subsequently, Mr. Pascalar became vice president of global marketing at Payless Shoes, launching Payless Rewards until leaving in 2017. After serving as head of marketing for two smaller marketers, he retired from corporate work to focus on his own business, Novorasi Consulting Group LLC. Mr. Pascalar has earned five ICON Top 50 Marketing Awards, recognition as a Top 100 Marketing Mind from Forbes, and many other marketing awards. He served on the boards of directors of Make-A-Wish, CASA, the American Diabetes Association, CRMc and the Global Retail Marketing Association, truly making a difference as a distinguished marketing pioneer.
