He also practiced utilities law, focused on natural gas, with the Federal Power Commission for five years and began his legal career as an associate with Huber, Magill, Lawrence & Farell. Having earned a Bachelor of Science in industrial engineering and a Master of Science in operations research from Columbia University, Mr. Silverman initially worked as a planning engineer with Western Electric before entering law school. His background gave him expertise in economics, network engineering and innovation, as well as a valuable systems analysis perspective. Today, Mr. Silverman is an attorney at the Law Offices of A. Jared Silverman, a firm he founded in 1997. With his engineering background, he is in a unique position to advise startup businesses on innovation, market entry and international expansion.
