107 Millennium - Twenty-fourth Edition MEDICINE, HEALTHCARE AND WELLNESS When she was just 8 years old, the Rev. Dr. D.E. Snyder witnessed her mother’s first psychotic episode. Due to her mother’s mental illness, Dr. Snyder experienced a challenging upbringing. However, unlike many who grow up in similar situations, she chose to act proactively rather than reactively by seeking a career in the mental health industry. Dr. Snyder is a psychotherapist and consultant focusing on child and adolescent treatment. Equipped with a PhD in psychology, she is also a licensed professional clinical counselor and a licensed marriage and family therapist. She completed a CITI Program credential in social and behavioral research in 2022. Dr. Snyder knows personally how mental illness can affect a person. She works with children and adolescents who have emotional disturbances and unique learning challenges, including intellectual and developmental delays and autism. She also treats those who have experienced severe trauma or abuse. In her role within the court system, Dr. Snyder has served as an expert witness and testified as a therapist, advocating for justice on behalf of the children and teens in her care. She is deeply committed to advocating for the rights of those without a voice. One of Dr. Snyder’s most notable achievements occurred while she was working in the nonprofit sector. Her clinical director asked her to develop and launch an early psychosis program for transitional-age youth. She agreed with the understanding that the program would stay true to its original design. The program launched in 2011 and continues to operate as she intended as of 2026. In addition to her mental health work, Dr. Snyder is a commissioned minister in the Federation of Christian Ministries and an ordained minister with the Roman Catholic Women Priests – the second woman of color to achieve this in modern recorded history. She also hosts a podcast, “Mind Wisdom.” Though her journey has been difficult, Dr. Snyder is grateful for the circumstances that helped her become an advocate for others who may not understand their own experiences. She believes everyone deserves a voice, and she is proud to be someone who listens. REV. DR. D.E. SNYDER CONSULTANT, PSYCHOTHERAPIST Rev. Dr. D.E.
