Garlie, innovation is not always about moving forward; sometimes it means returning to safer, agriculture-based materials to manufacture our durable goods and services. By replacing over-engineered petroleum products with rapidly renewable and sustainable alternatives, he aims to reduce exposure to harmful chemicals while creating new uses for U.S. agricultural products. Mr. Garlie is the president and managing partner of Cross Plains Solutions LLC, maker of SoyFoam™, a soybean-based firefighting foam. SoyFoam™ provides a safer, environmentally responsible alternative to legacy aqueous film-forming foams that contain PFAS, often called “forever chemicals” because of their environmental persistence. SoyFoam™ contains no PFAS or toxic chemicals and stands as the world’s only GreenScreen Certified GOLD™ firefighting foam – a distinction reflecting its environmental, health and safety profile. With advanced degrees in chemistry, Mr. Garlie has devoted his fourdecade career to developing better environmental, health and safety solutions for everyday industrial goods and services using feedstocks from rapidly renewable, sustainable agricultural supply chains.
