However, once immersed in the work, he recognized the industry’s complexity and issues demanding solutions. His curiosity took over, leading him to a network and knowledge that ultimately shaped his career path. Today, Mr. Hoback is the energy project coordinator at Southern Illinois University, as well as a researcher at the Advanced Energy Institute, housed at the university’s Carbondale campus. With 20 years of underground coal mining experience, his expertise lies in working with both coal mining companies and environmentalists to consider the human impact of industry decisions. Previous roles include union leadership and managing legislative affairs for the United Mine Workers of America. He also served as deputy director of the Illinois Office of Coal Development, overseeing a staff of six and a $20 million budget. Looking ahead, Mr. Hoback is helping develop an innovative agrivoltaic project. This unique blend of agriculture and solar energy involves installing solar panels above crops that support local wildlife. The goal is to harmonize renewable energy production and agriculture, creating opportunities for both energy companies and farmers. ENERGY PROJECT COORDINATOR Southern Illinois University Carbondale, IL WILLIAM “BILL” HOBACK CHRISTOPHER HANSON, CTFL Christopher Hanson has earned distinction for his excellence in Project Management and Computer Systems Validation across several industries, garnering nearly 30 years of expertise since the inception of his career. Currently, he serves as a Principal Consultant and Senior Resource Manager at Osprey Life Sciences, where he manages consultants, provides guidance to teams integrating Quality Assurance and Validation into their work, and mentors emerging professionals in the field. Earlier in his career, Mr. Hanson served with companies such as Takeda, OpenText, OneShield, e-Nable Corporation, and Collaborative Consulting, where he held numerous roles between 2006 and 2018. He also worked for Takeda Oncology, where he established a Testing Center of Excellence; for Vertex Pharmaceuticals, where he established a Clinical Quality Systems of Excellence; and in consulting roles with several entities, including Harvard Business School Publishing and The New England Journal of Medicine. Mr. Hanson holds a BA in Economics from the University of New Hampshire and supplemented his credentials with a certification as a Process-Based Auditor. He is also a Senior member of ASQ. Beyond his work, he enjoys studying the German language and culture and looks forward to international trips to Berlin, Vienna, and Munich.
