He pursued a dual degree in veterinary science and animal husbandry in India, then returned to Nepal to work as a veterinary officer and project coordinator for the nonprofit Heifer International. Dr. Poudel immigrated to the United States in 2018 and earned a master’s degree and a PhD in poultry science from Mississippi State University. Today, he is a research scholar at North Carolina State University and an expert in laying hen nutrition. He has co-authored numerous works on the topic and is a member of the Poultry Science Association. He has also conducted studies on improving the health of laying hens and the sustainability of egg production. His inquisitive nature and passion for science make him an effective researcher and valuable asset to his field. Reflecting on his career, Dr. Poudel hopes to be remembered as someone who values rational thinking, cares for others' well-being and contributes to society. Looking ahead, he aims to be an agricultural resource for communities in need. DR. ISHAB POUDEL Dr. Guy Plunkett III is celebrated in academic circles for his decades-long expertise in bacteriology. With a career underscored by significant contributions to scientific research, he is a senior scientist emeritus at the University of WisconsinMadison, where he has studied microbial systems and enhanced our understanding of them. Through his role, he is dedicated to advancing research principles and mentoring the next generation of scientists. In addition, Dr. Plunkett worked at DNASTAR, a biotechnology company that provides sequence analysis tools for the life sciences, where he helped develop software solutions for DNA sequence analysis and bridged the gap between computational biology and genomics. He also served as a consultant for Scarab Genomics, developing reduced-genome E. coli strains, resulting in a 2012 patent widely cited by researchers. Previously, he served as a senior curator at the Enteropathogen Resource Integration Center for five years.
