151 Millennium - Twenty-fourth Edition SOCIAL WORK, PUBLIC SERVICE, NONPROFIT AND HUMANITIES FOUNDER, PRESIDENT Operation Care International Dallas, TX CO-FOUNDER Woman, Cradle of Abundance Cherry Hill, NJ SUSIE Y. JENNINGS For four decades, Dr. Elsie McKee has spent time in theological seminary classrooms, preparing the next generation of ministry leaders and teachers. However, her most significant work may be occurring outside the classroom through her nonprofit, Woman, Cradle of Abundance. This organization partners with Congolese nonprofits to empower women and children in the Democratic Republic of the Congo, where Dr. McKee was born. It aims to enable women to achieve safety, pursue education and gain economic independence. Her work addresses the urgent challenges they face and helps build pathways toward a more stable, self-sufficient future. Established in 2013, the nonprofit illustrates one of Dr. McKee’s guiding principles: every little step matters. When faced with overwhelming need, such as starvation, sexual abuse or natural disasters, she believes it is essential to remember that every act of help, no matter how small, is not only a victory but also a statement on what is right. Throughout a career that included big moments, such as publishing books and lecturing in seminaries around the world, Dr. McKee has remained focused on her nonprofit work. She emphasizes that large-scale change often begins with small, meaningful actions. DR. ELSIE MCKEE Susie Y. Jennings is a sought-after public speaker, nonprofit executive, nurse, author and humanitarian whose life journey reflects a powerful message: out of brokenness, she found her purpose. After the devastating suicide of her husband, a military veteran, Ms. Jennings faced unimaginable grief and loss. Through that tragedy, she discovered a deeper calling to transform her pain into purpose and use her life to bring hope, compassion and practical help to others. As founder and president of Operation Care International, Ms. Jennings has traveled to 19 countries and helped more than 38,000 children through food, clothing, medical assistance, legal aid, education and other essential services. Her humanitarian work includes helping build schools in Kenya and Cambodia and supporting the funding of a school in Israel. Ms. Jennings holds a BSN from Central Philippine University and previously served as a nurse supervisor at Baylor University Medical Center. She has appeared in two documentaries, spoken internationally, and presented at the Global Leadership Summit in Dubai. She is the author of two books and is writing her third. Her story is one of tragedy to triumph, brokenness to purpose, and pain transformed into a life of service.
