One of Ms. Ibe’s most notable professional achievements came in 2017, when she was appointed a justice of the peace for England and Wales by the Ministry of Justice in the United Kingdom. The process of becoming a magistrate – equivalent to a judge – is quite rigorous, with the application and selection taking approximately one year. She held this position simultaneously with her other professional roles and only stepped down in 2025, when she relocated to Seattle. The law was not Ms. Ibe’s first career choice; she initially wanted to be a journalist. However, her parents urged her to consider only law, medicine or accounting. As a result, Ms. Ibe chose law and found a sense of satisfaction similar to that of writing, but in a more professional context.
