320 MILLENNIUM-SECOND EDITION A renowned figure in the realm of artistic expression, Judith-Ann Saks is a prolific artist whose paintings have been featured in countless exhibitions across the United States. A former artist with the American Revolution Bicentennial Project and curator of the student art collection at the University of Houston, Ms. Saks has shared her work with several communities, inspiring both upcoming and established artists alike. To prepare for her illustrious career, Ms. Saks completed coursework at the Texas Academy of Art, the Museum of Fine Arts and Rice University. She subsequently earned a Bachelor of Fine Arts from Tulane University in 1966 and completed postgraduate coursework at the University of Houston. Among her notable achievements, she has been represented in permanent collections of The Heritage Society, the first museum in Houston to be accredited by the American Alliance of Museums. The president of the National Society of the Colonial Dames of America, Ms. Saks is additionally a historian with the National Society Magna Charta Dames and Barons and the National Society Colonial Dames XVII Century. She has also been a chaplain of the National Society Daughters of the American Revolution since 2015. Ms. Saks’ work has been exhibited in several museums, shows and publications throughout her career. She was an artist for the “Celebrate America” coloring book, the Martha “Lady” Washington pin and the Pin Oak Charity Horse Show. In addition, she was an artist for the official Bicentennial Project of the Port of Houston and the Cruiser Houston Memorial Room at the University of Houston, and painted “The Strathaird” in England. In recognition of her exceptional contributions to the art world, Ms. Saks has accrued several accolades, including the Van Rensselaer Award and the National Women in the Arts Recognition Award. A recipient of the Albert Nelson Marquis Lifetime Achievement Award, she has been featured in several editions of Who’s Who of American Art, Who’s Who in America and Who’s Who of American Women, among several other publications.
