135 Millennium - A Marquis Who’s Who Magazine J anet M. Wilson always had a gift for art, but was unsure how to go about her passion. Her neighbor, Don Lord, was a professional artist and gave her the inspiration she needed to be a confident artist. Ms. Wilson’s father, JohnWilson, also held a love for drawing and he taught her about art. Her mother, Agnes Wilson, was a science and English teacher of 46 years. With this support system, Ms. Wilson followed her dream of pursuing art, and in 1978, she received a BS in art education from Edinboro University. Ms. Wilson began her career in education with the City of Erie, Pennsylvania, school district as a substitute teacher from 1979 to 1986. In 1987, she was a substitute contract art teacher, which led into her full time position as an art teacher, which she performed for 24 years until 2012. Ms. Wilson thrived in her position and wanted to teach her students what she knew and learned. Most of all, Ms. Wilson wanted to be a good example for her students. Prior to launching her art education career, Ms. Wilson worked as an arts and crafts supervisor at the Erie YMCA and was assistant director and camp counselor at the Dr. G. Barber Center. In addition to teaching, Ms. Wilson has focused on her own art and has been featured in multiple group shows.
