152 Millennium - A Marquis Who’s Who Magazine D r. George William Taylor’s father was a maritime electrical engineer and his uncle was an astronomer. They strongly believed that electrical engineering was the career of the future; therefore, they encouraged Dr. Taylor to consider it as a career. Dr. Taylor received a BE in 1957, a DEng in 1981 and a DLitt in 2009, all from the University of Western Australia, as well as a PhD from the University of London in 1961. He additionally holds an honorary DSc from the Rostov Don Pedagogical Institute in Russia. Since 1984, Dr. Taylor has served as founder, chief executive officer and chairman emeritus of Ocean Power Technologies, Inc., which received direct support from the Office of Naval Research in Washington, D.C., and is listed on NASDAQ. Dr. Taylor founded Princeton Resources, Inc., a technology consulting company and is currently President. He was also a Founder and served as Vice President of Princeton Materials Science, a pioneering company in liquid crystal displays and digital watches from 1970 to 1975, when it was acquired by Fairchild Semiconductor. Additionally, he was a member of technical staff at RCA Laboratories from 1962 to 1970 and was an overseas scholar at the University of London under a Hackett Overseas Studentship from the University of Western Australia from 1957 to 1959 and an Australian CSIRO Overseas Scholarship in 1960. Dr. Taylor is a Chartered Engineer and Fellow of the Engineers of Australia and the Institute of Engineering Technology of the United Kingdom. He was the recipient of the 2009 Marine Renewable Energy Conference Navigator Award and the 2007 Ocean Energy Pioneer Award. He also received the Ramtron Fellowship Award and RCA Laboratory Achievement Award. Dr. Taylor is the Founder and Editor In Chief of such scientific journals as Ferroelectrics, Ferroelectrics Letters, and Integrated Ferroelectrics, published by Taylor and Francis. Dr. Taylor has also co-authored four books on ferroelectric and related materials and their applications. DR.
