Ms. Gwozdz’s classical fine art training and sophisticated flair is demonstrated throughout her work. In designing an interior space, she finds inspiration through drawing, architecture, landscape and furniture design. She was a featured designer in several editions of “100 Designers’ Favorite Rooms” and highlighted in the first and second editions of “Great Designers of the World.” Colleagues and clients describe her style as “classical contemporary,” enhancing all forms of architecture from the traditional, modern and contemporary to an eclectic mix. It has been described as “inspired design” because she is inspired by her clients’ personal tastes. In addition to creating commissioned pieces featuring exotic woods and metals, resulting in works of art that serve as both artistic and beautiful functional objects, Ms. Gwozdz is the principal designer of her own furniture company, Marcus Taylor Furniture (named after the middle names of her children). As a past member of the American Society of Interior Designers, Ms. Gwozdz received accolades from both the national organization and Arizona North chapter. She was honored with first, second and third place awards for the Edwards Fields Annual Wool Rug Design Competition and earned the Lumen Award, Cutler Award and International Illumination Design Award. Ms. Gwozdz has participated in the Arizona Costume Institute (Phoenix Art Museum), Annual Gala Committee of the American Cancer Institute, Board of Directors of the Orpheum Theater Foundation, Junior League of Phoenix and Agape Food Box Distribution for HIV/AIDS. Her current commitment is Kids in Focus, which mentors children using fine art photography training and skills. “When did I become interested in drawing and design? When I was six years old,” recalls Kim E. Gwozdz, principal designer of Provenance, the Phoenix-based interior design company founded by Ms. Gwozdz in 1988.
