Jennings has always been passionate about creating sustainable, cost-effective waste and recycling solutions. Established in 2001, Waste Pro USA has quickly risen through the ranks as one of the premier solid waste companies within the United States. Serving as chairman of the board and chief executive officer, Mr. Jennings has made safety a top priority, as well as integrating green services and technologies. Recently, in 2020, Mr. Jennings passed down his responsibilities to his son, Sean, who now serves as chief executive officer and president. Mr. Jennings remains executive board chairman. An alumnus of the Holy Cross High School in Queens, New York, Mr. Jennings was inducted into the school’s Hall of Fame for his achievements in business and humanitarian efforts. From there, he received a BS in management in 1968 and an MBA in finance, both from St. John’s University. Additionally, he received a chartered investment analysis designation from the New York Institute of Finance. Earlier in his career, Mr. Jennings served various waste and recycling companies before transforming one business into Jennings Environmental Services, which at the time was one of the largest privately-owned waste disposal companies in central Florida. Upon its merger with USA Waste Services, Inc., in 1996, the company became a subsidiary and Mr. Jennings was named regional vice president for the Florida and Caribbean regions. In the current age, Waste Pro USA operates in 11 Southeastern states with 70 locations, employing a team of more than 3,800 individuals. In its first month of business, the company earned only $800 in revenue. However, in 2019, the revenue exceeded $733 million. To attest to his success, Mr. Jennings has been named one of Florida Trend’s 500 Most Influential Business Leaders since 2018 and was honored with a Legacy Award from MSW Management in 2020. Likewise, he was inducted into the National Solid Waste Management Association Hall of Fame in 2011 and was an honorary keynote speaker of the 2011 Executive Roundtable for America’s Solid Waste Leaders.
