175 Millennium - A Marquis Who’s Who Magazine HEALTH AND WELLNESS Blending the social science of psychology with the medical science of dentistry, Dr. Gordon J. Christensen believed that biology and physiology lacked the humanistic quality that the social sciences had to offer. Desiring to change the lives of individuals who experienced traumatic events through a medical approach, he was introduced to prosthodontics, a dentistry specialty focusing onmissing teeth and other jaw issues. He earned a DDS from the University of Southern California and an MS in dentistry from the University of Washington. He then became a diplomate of the American Board of Prosthodontics. Since 1981, Dr. Christensen has been the chief executive officer of Practical Clinical Courses in Provo, Utah, an approved program through the Academy of General Dentistry. The program offers continuing education courses for dental professionals, including hands-on continuing education courses in prosthodontics, oral surgery, endodontics, periodontics and implant surgery, among other areas. Since the organization’s inception, Dr. Christensen has presented more than 45,000 hours of continuing education lectures and published hundreds of articles and books. Concurrent to this venture, Dr. Christensen has served as the chief executive officer of the Clinician’s Report Foundation since 1987. Outside of his current endeavors, Dr. Christensen has been the coeditor of the Clinical Research Associates’ newsletter and CR Report since 1977. He is an editorial board member of Current Opinion in Dentistry, the Journal of Esthetic Dentistry, the American Journal of Dentistry, the International Journal of Periodontics and Restorative Dentistry, and the Journal of Operative Dentistry. Since 1988, he has also been an editorial consultant for the Journal of the American Dental Association. A fellow of the Royal College of Surgeons and an honorary member of the Academy of General Dentistry, Dr. Christensen was named among the Top 100 Doctors in the World in 2019 and was voted #1 Dental Lecturer by U.S. Dentist Magazine from1987 to 1989. The Academy of Dentistry International honored him with the 1988 Award of Distinction, and he earned the 1986 Man of the Year Award from the American College of Dentists. DR. GORDON J.
