176 HEALTH AND WELLNESS was recently named Director of the Barrett’s Esophagus Institute at Florida Digestive Health Specialists, a National Center of Excellence. He currently serves on the editorial review board of the American Journal of Gastroenterology. Dr. Corbett has contributed to clinical research regarding Barrett’s esophagus, and has helped alter the clinical guidelines for the screening, surveillance and treatment of the disorder. Authoring numerous publications in the field of medicine, he is recognized as a fellow of the American Society of Gastrointestinal Endoscopy and a member of The American Foregut Society. Dr. Corbett is a member of Phi Beta Kappa and the National Medical Honor Society, Alpha Omega Alpha. To attest to his success, Dr. Corbett has been named among America’s 5,000 Top Doctors and America’s Top Doctors by Castle Connolly since 2007, and was recognized among the Leading Physicians of the WorldDoctors of Excellence in 2017. Dr. F. Scott Corbett was inspired to enter the field of medicine from a formative age. He attended Hofstra University, where he graduated magna cum laude with a BA in biology and chemistry in 1975 then received his MD from the NYU School of Medicine in 1979. He completed his internship, residency then fellowship in gastroenterology at the University of Miami Affiliated Hospitals from 1979 to 1984. Upon completion of his medical training, Dr. Corbett opened a private practice in gastroenterology in Sarasota, Florida, where he remains today, ultimately spearheading the formation of Florida Digestive Health Specialists, a large single specialty gastroenterology group serving nine counties in central and southwest Florida. A diplomate of the American Board of Internal Medicine and Gastroenterology, Dr. Corbett became affiliated with Sarasota Memorial Hospital in 1984, where he serves as Assistant Professor of Clinical Medicine for the Florida State University College of Medicine. Dr. Corbett has been the Medical Director of Suncoast Endoscopy of Sarasota since 2002 and F.
