Also holding an MFA in poetry from Vermont College from 1983, Ms. Harrison is most proud of her marriage to her late husband Dennis, as well as the relationship she has fostered with her daughter, Katherine. She also has two grandchildren. Most impressively, Ms. Harrison has been invited to read poetry at the Library of Congress early on in her career. To attest to her talent in poetry writing, she received the New England Discovery Poet Award in 2002. Ms. Harrison attributes her success to her admiration for the English language and the privilege of obtaining an excellent education in the arts. Pamela Harrison has possessed a love for poetry from a formative age, leading her to pursue studies in the English language. She attended the distinguished Smith College in Northampton, Massachusetts, from whom she earned a BA in English literature in 1968. Spending several decades in academia, she first served as an English teacher at the Beaver Country Day School in Brookline, Massachusetts, from 1968 to 1971. After several years, Ms. Harrison returned to teaching and served as an adjunct professor of English at the University System of New Hampshire between 1988 and 1992. Prior to her academic retirement in 2011, she was an adjunct instructor of English literature and creative writing at Dartmouth College for 16 years. Focusing her attention on poetry for the entirety of her career, since commencing her retirement, Ms. Harrison has completely dedicated her time to writing poetry. The author of seven books of poetry, she is in the midst of publishing “Whirligig,” which will be released in July 2021 by Turning Point Books.
