68 Millennium - A Marquis Who’s Who Magazine EDUCATION Supported by more than 45 years of experience in medicine and academia, Dr. David Albert Clark has been serving as a professor of pediatrics and department chairman at Albany Medical College in New York since 1998. Having served more than 600,000 children throughout his career, he also teaches residents in pediatrics and fellows in neonatology in his role. Prior to his involvement with the Albany Medical College, Dr. Clark was a professor of pediatrics at Louisiana State University in New Orleans from 1988 to 1998, where he also served as vice chairman of pediatrics for eight years. Likewise, he was an associate professor at the New York Medical College and Westchester County Medical Center for four years. He commenced his career in 1978 as an assistant professor at SUNY Upstate Medical University in Syracuse. A diplomate of the American Board of Pediatrics and fellow of the American Academy of Pediatrics, Dr. Clark pursued a formal education at Binghamton University, earning a BA in biology in 1969. In 1973, he received an MD from State University of New York, Upstate Medical Center, before completing his medical training at UNC Chapel Hill. In addition to these pursuits, he is a noted author, having contributed approximately 130 articles to journals and 17 book chapters. He has been the co-author of numerous books as well, including the 2020 work “Mental Health of Families and Children.” Alongside his wife Darlene, Dr. Clark has maintained an orphanage in Bangalore, India, for nearly 20 years. Currently overseeing 26 young girls in the orphanage, Dr. Clark and his wife visit once per year to check up on the children and educate them through the program “Mamatha House,” an international program that provides individual sponsors to the young girls. Dr. Clark has been honored with myriad accolades throughout his career, having won the American Academy of Pediatrics Advocacy Award in 2018. The academy has also given him a Special Achievement Award in 2007 and a Pediatrics Research Award in 1983. Named Physician of the Year in 1993, he also earned the Seale Harris Award from the Southern Medical Association in 1996. DR.
