63 Millennium - A Marquis Who’s Who Magazine EDUCATION in 2004 and 2005 and as director of the MA in Liberal Studies program from 1988 to 1995. She joined the institution as an assistant professor in 1978, rising to the rank of associate professor in 1987. Prior, she worked as a research associate at the John Tracy Clinic in Los Angeles in 1977. Alongside these roles, Dr. Bennett-Kastor was a visiting scholar at the Linguistics Institute of Ireland in 1995 and 2003. She was also a research consultant at the University of California Los Angeles’ Rehabilitation Center in 1976 and a humanities consultant at Children’s Audio Services in South Carolina from 1979 to 1986. She was a Hallmark Foundation Fellow of the University of Kansas in 1987 and was named an honorary professor of Albert Schweitzer University. She had also been a finalist at the International Song Writing Contest, a Pushcart Prize Nominee and a Quora Top Writer. Presently, Dr. Bennett-Kastor holds member- ship with the American Speech, Language and Hearing Association, the Linguistic Society of America, the New York Academy of Sciences, the Irish-American Cultural Institute, the Irish-Amer- ican Partnership and the Union of Concerned Scientists. Civically, she has been president of Little Red Wagon Child Care, Inc., co-president of the Celtic Circle/Irish-American Cultural Institute and vice president of the Wichita Irish Cultural Association. Dr. Bennett-Kastor received a BFA from the California Institute of the Arts in 1973. At the University of Southern California (USC), she later, with Judith Walcutt, produced a production of James Joyce’s “Molly Bloom’s Soliloquy,” which she recalls as a highlight of her graduate school years. She went on to achieve an MA in 1976 and a PhD in 1978, both from USC. In her spare time, she enjoys music, songwriting, photography and theater, as well as spending time with her children and grandchildren. A ccruing over 40 years of experience in collegiate education, Dr. Tina L. Bennett-Kastor has devoted her career to serving Wichita State University. Attaining emerita status in 2016, she honorably served as a full professor of language and linguistics from 1998 to 2016. In addition, she excelled as the interim writing program director TINA L.
