242 MILLENNIUM W illiam Gentry Lee has been in the legal field for over 40 years. With a focus on corporate law, Mr. Lee advises businesses of their legal rights, responsibilities and obligations. He received a bachelor’s degree, with honors, from Harvard University in 1966, followed by a Juris Doctor from the University of Oklahoma in 1969. His education helped him to pass both the Oklahoma and Texas bar exams in 1969 and 1972, respectively. With certifications from two states, Mr. Lee obtained his first position as an associate with Vinson & Elkins LLP in Houston, Texas, where he continues to practice law. He was promoted, making partner in 1981 and later representing the firm as of counsel. In addition to working for his current firm, Mr. Lee has also held positions on several nonprofit boards. He is currently serving on the board of trustees of Presbyterian School in Houston. Throughout his career, Mr. Lee has contributed articles to various professional journals. With his knack for writing, he was an editor for the Oklahoma Law Review from 1967 to 1969. His achievements include his induction into the Oklahoma chapter of the Order of the Coif, which requires having a Juris Doctor and graduating in the top 10 percent of one’s class. Mr. Lee was also on the committee for the revision of corporate laws in the business section of the State Bar of Texas from 1975 to 2000. His civic duties include being on the board of directors for the Kiwanis Club of Houston, which is part of an international organization that is dedicated to improving the lives of children and communities, both nationally and abroad.
