Furthermore, she was a supervisor at a behavioral health center for youth in Chicago, where she managed interventions for children and adolescents with complex behavioral needs. Ms. Lieto commenced her career at the Monroe County Youth Center, where she built a strong rapport with incarcerated youth and laid the foundation for her future social work skills. Ms. Lieto holds an AS from Monroe Community College and a BA from Spring Arbor University. In 2018, she obtained an MSW from Wayne State University. To augment her academic credentials, she also earned certifications as an alcohol and drug counselor and a certified trauma specialist. Looking ahead, Ms. Lieto aims to broaden Tree by the Sea Counseling’s services by opening additional offices and expanding her team to meet the needs of individuals and families. Elisha Lieto has demonstrated a commitment to helping youth cope with and overcome mental health struggles, exemplified by a 25-year career spanning expertise in trauma, mental health and substance abuse. Since 2001, she has served as a mental health therapist and substance abuse specialist at Tree by the Sea Counseling. The Monroe-based facility has grown exponentially. Ms. Lieto works directly with patients in person and via telehealth platforms, providing care from age 3 through adulthood. She also manages a team of eight therapists who concentrate on such areas as trauma, post-traumatic stress disorder, family therapy and children’s play therapy. Notably, Tree by the Sea Counseling was named the Best Counseling Business in Monroe, Michigan, in 2024 and was a finalist for the Best Business for Counseling in Monroe in 2025. Similarly, the facility was awarded Best of Business ratings in 2024, 2025 and 2026. Also, it notably received the Excellence in Healthcare award at the Healthcare 2.0 conference in Las Vegas, recognizing leadership in healthcare nationwide. Earlier in her career, Ms. Lieto worked for several clinics and centers, specializing in substance use disorders and addiction treatment.
