Over two decades, she earned two degrees, attended law school and passed the bar exam – all while working. Her promotion to partner in 2023 is the culmination of her life’s work to date. Ms. LaTourette is a partner at Schulten Ward Turner & Weiss LLP, a boutique law firm in Atlanta, where she specializes in transactional commercial real estate and business law. She was first hired as an associate with the firm in 2015. Her tasks include managing, training, and working with the transactional team on sophisticated commercial real estate transactions and complex titles. She also assists clients with business formation, advises on business matters, and, when the time comes, helps clients wind down or divest from their companies. Ms. LaTourette began as a real estate-owned (REO) pre-closer with McCalla Raymer Padrick Cobb Nichols and Clark in 2004. In this role, she was responsible for managing the extensive paperwork and documentation required to finalize the sale of bank-owned properties. She fell in love with the law and was encouraged by her mentors, attorney Elizabeth Cruckshank and paralegal Jim Cagel, to pursue a law degree to advance her career. In 2005, Ms. LaTourette moved to McCurdy & Candler LLC as supervisor of the post-sale foreclosure department. In 2008, she joined PEMCO Limited as a title specialist. Throughout this time, she was working toward a bachelor's degree in accounting and finance from Kaplan Inc., which she completed in 2010. Ms. LaTourette continued advancing her career as she entered law school. She worked as a government conveyance supervisor and then a title reviewer at Aldridge Connors LLC before becoming a law clerk in the Senior Citizens law division at the Atlanta Legal Aid Society in 2013. One year later, she graduated summa cum laude from Atlanta's John Marshall Law School, earning her Doctor of Jurisprudence as the valedictorian of her class.
