Her grandfather owned a general contracting company, and her mother worked in the field. Still, she had much to prove in the male-dominated construction industry. Never one to shy away from a challenge, Ms. Whatley has found a path forward as the president and owner of Texstar Glazing LLC, a commercial glass and glazing subcontractor. Originally from Colorado, Ms. Whatley began her career in administrative and office management roles at Landmark Healthcare and Omni Capital Group. Her entry into the glass and glazing industry came in 2008, when her mother encouraged her to move to Texas and apply for a receptionist position at Texas Commercial Glass Concepts. Over the next 13 years, Ms. Whatley advanced to project administrator, estimator and pre-construction manager, overseeing project bids and management processes. She then moved into a two-year position as an outside sales representative at Oldcastle BuildingEnvelope®, an international supplier of fabricated glass, architectural hardware and metal systems, and other glazing-focused interior and exterior products. Ms. Whatley’s career trajectory has given her diverse experience across various departments and functions, including accounting, human resources and project management. She also earned multiple certifications from Procore Technologies, becoming a Procore Certified Project Manager in financial management, quality and safety, and resource management, among other areas. Her broad expertise fueled her desire to establish her own company. Navigating a competitive market has been difficult, but Ms. Whatley has found a tremendous outpouring of support from the glazing industry. In 2025, she was featured in a member spotlight on LinkedIn by the National Glass Association, garnering more impressions than almost any other post. Ms. Whatley was also highlighted in the December 2024 issue of USGlass Magazine in a “Women in the Industry” feature, affirming her hard work and dedication to her field.
