At Texstar Glazing, Ms. Whatley is a subcontractor for commercial construction projects. Her company provides storefronts, entrances, curtain walls, heavy glass walls, sunshade systems and more for the exterior envelope of commercial buildings. As owner, she has many responsibilities, such as introducing her business to potential clients and ensuring her team collaborates effectively to achieve larger goals. She is also tasked with supporting her team through challenges that may arise while sourcing materials or fulfilling customer orders. Ms. Whatley thinks of her organizational structure as a wheel rather than a hierarchy; each person has a specific role that is vital to keeping operations moving smoothly. Looking ahead, she envisions a well-functioning business in which departments operate independently, with her offering guidance during difficult times.
