After working in a Martial Arts Studio beginning in 1997, Lavonne Carroll realized that the philosophy of Martial Arts could be leveraged to help the youth (ages 4 and up) to learn about conflict education. In 2003, she established MAMBEC (Martial Art Mind Body Education Center), Inc., in Cole Harbour Place Facility, Nova Scotia, Canada, which instructs children through a contemporary-styled Life Skills Program with a Martial Art Connection. MAMBEC does not utilize sparring, weapons training or Tournaments. Instead, MAMBEC teaches children how to stop a fight before it starts. This Program is a holistic program that utilizes a belting, badging and book system. The studio has notably produced more than 80 black belts that have validated the valuable insight and wisdom of this Program. Considering her entrepreneurial success, Ms. Carroll aims to publish a series of Book/Curriculum to aid Instructors/Parents/Educational Leaders to teach children the technical (body mechanics) of the martial arts, and philosophy (life skills) to help children at a young age deal with conflict defensively. Additionally, she has established MAMBEC Publication Company. Looking ahead, she intends to witness continued growth and success of her business. LAVONNE CARROLL
