12 Millennium - A Marquis Who’s Who Magazine Millennium Magazine Featured Listee ACADEMIA, EDUCATION AND EDUCATIONAL SERVICES Beth Ann Lively is a retired middle school linguistics specialist and curriculum developer with over three decades of professional expertise. Most recently serving IPS Key Learning Community for 18 years until her retirement, she was instrumental in establishing the organization’s middle school and shaping the English initiative into the successful program it is recognized as today. Notably, the creative writing program flourished under Ms. Lively’s direction, enabling students to find unique books and learn to journal by expressing their thoughts and making comparisons. Prior to joining IPS Key Learning Community, Ms. Lively served as an adjunct professor in the English department at Indiana UniversityPurdue University Indianapolis (IUPUI) from 1986 to 1993, where she also served as the associate faculty president. During her tenure, Ms. Lively participated in pioneering writing instruction that gained international recognition, even inspiring educational models in Thailand. She also led initiatives exploring diverse writing models and organized writing contests for students. After leaving IUPUI, Ms. Lively oversaw the editing of a journal publication that showcased the talents of both winners and runners-up. Previously, she spent 11 years in Catholic education and worked as a water-safety instructor and a house parent for juveniles, both of which prepared her to work with young students. Ms. Lively holds a bachelor’s degree in English literature and drama from the University of Evansville and a master’s degree from Indiana University. She attributes much of her success to a deep motivation to make a genuine difference in her students’ lives, as well as a strong conscience that has consistently driven her to act with purpose and integrity. Among her many career achievements, Ms. Lively is particularly proud of serving her faith through her invaluable work, having not only been a celebrated educator but also a passionate artist and musician. Beyond her current commitments, Ms. Lively manages a farm with her sister, continuing the values instilled by their mother, who always encouraged an active involvement in life.
