San Francisco East Bay Region, CA Joshua Paulos’ expertise is built on a distinguished career in healthcare and mental health. For him, helping people is more than a job. His work is a calling – a demonstrated, steadfast and consistent commitment to service and leadership. Possessing over two decades of experience and expertise in the mental health field, he has devoted more than 100,000 hours of service to his community via a mixture of direct client facing individual and group sessions, as well as staff supervision, development, oversight and training. Mr. Paulos has worked with individuals and staff at all levels of care, ranging from mild to moderate, court-mandated or self-referred, to those with severe and persistent mental illness who battle chronic, potentially lethal thoughts and behaviors such as addiction, recidivism, homelessness and self-harm, including suicidal ideation. Beginning in 2002 and throughout his career, Mr. Paulos has consistently taken on demanding roles. He began serving as a nonviolence and drug-abstinence educator in inner-city middle and high schools through Integrated Counseling and Consulting Services. Here, he developed curricula and programs for nonviolence education that included training in reduction, prevention and group facilitation for students and laypersons. Mr. Paulos held similar educational and training roles at Sierra Educational and Counseling Services, the Human Outreach Agency, the Seventh Step Foundation, and Terra Firma Educational and Diversion Services. He was with Terra Firma for over 10 years and worked with an estimated 40,000 clients at that location alone. He also delivered group facilitation training to bachelor’s- and master’slevel students. Since 2015, Mr. Paulos has been president and owner of Elegant Leadership Inc., where he develops and delivers innovative training methods that integrate established therapeutic knowledge, skills and expertise into a specialized framework. His goal is to offer a transformative training experience that equips individuals with practical tools and spiritually grounded guidance.
