136 Millennium - A Marquis Who’s Who Magazine MEDICINE, HEALTHCARE AND WELLNESS Earlier in her career, Dr. Brown served as an assistant professor of neuro-oncology at the Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai from 2021 to 2024 and an instructor at the Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center from 2019 to 2021, among other appointments. While at Mount Sinai, Dr. Brown established a neurofibromatosis clinic to deliver state-of-the-art care to children and adults. Highly educated, Dr. Brown holds a bachelor’s degree from the University of Chicago, as well as two PhD degrees in neuroscience from The University of Texas at Austin and the Southwestern School of Medicine. In 2013, Dr. Brown earned an MD from the University of Texas Southwestern Medical Center in Dallas. She has been ABPN- certified in neurology since 2017. Outside of her work, Dr. Brown previously dedicated 15 years to dog rescue efforts and maintains an active interest in writing. She is married with one child and enjoys painting, visiting art museums and caring for animals in her leisure time. Dr. Rebecca M. Brown has led a distinguished career in medicine, higher education and neuroscience, with a particular focus on research and treatment modalities for neurofibromatosis, glioblastoma and schwannomatosis. Since 2024, she has served as an associate professor of neuro-oncology at the University of Alabama at Birmingham (UAB), where she also derives great pride from working with underserved populations who are uninsured or rely on government insurance. Dr. Brown is deeply committed to treating neuro-oncological conditions, many of which have limited or nonexistent treatment options. She is recognized as one of the very few neurofibromatosis specialists who focus on adult patients. Currently, Dr. Brown and her team at UAB are developing a business plan to establish a medical center for individuals with neurofibromatosis and schwannomatosis, offering comprehensive care. The model is poised to integrate primary care physicians with specialists such as psychologists and neuropsychologists to ensure patients receive holistic, 360-degree treatment. Dr. Brown is pursuing philanthropic support to create the medical center, which would be the first of its kind in the world. REBECCA M.
