176 Dana Henzler’s career has spanned multiple industries since she entered the workforce 37 years ago. But no matter how varied her work has been, she feels it has all led her to where she is now, supporting youth and educational initiatives as a grants manager of The Hamilton Family Charitable Trust. Holding a degree in biology and chemistry, Ms. Henzler’s professional life began as a microbiology medical technologist at Jefferson Health in 1989. Almost a decade later, in 1997, she continued this work at The Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia. However, after about five years, she left this position to become vice president of Quality Degree HVAC, a company she and her husband founded in 1996. For 25 years, the Henzlers grew their HVAC company into a notable entity. Though Ms. Henzler had little experience as a business owner, she successfully navigated each challenge she faced to become the well-rounded person and leader she is today. At The Hamilton Family Charitable Trust, Ms. Henzler is driven by the opportunity to make a meaningful impact on young people’s lives. The trust primarily operates in Philadelphia and some surrounding counties, focusing on K-12 education. This includes programs such as Opportunity Youth, which helps young people who have faced obstacles to completing school regain stability and achieve success. The trust is also developing opportunities on Aquidneck Island, Rhode Island, and in Palm Beach County, Florida, to support education and engage in environmental education and recreational programs. In her role, Ms. Henzler is increasingly focused on data management and strategy, developing an organizational data architecture. This involves structuring how the data is organized, accessed and stored, as well as how information flows internally. Data management will be a critical component as the trust scales, and she is drawn to its immense growth potential. Ms. Henzler is pursuing a master’s degree in corporate innovation and entrepreneurship from The Pennsylvania State University, with an anticipated completion of May 2026. Though she began her graduate program before joining the trust, her studies have aligned well with her motivation to continue her role in its meaningful work.
